Go Green

Groundwork is taking part in Go Green, a major Chronicle-led initiative in partnership with North East public, private and voluntary sector organisations. This year long campaign aims to get people thinking global and acting local to renew, reduce, reuse and recycle.

The principal objective of Go Green is to facilitate bringing communities and organisations together, promoting ways we can tackle waste - whether it be flytipping, graffiti, rubbish collections or energy, - encourage making small changes which could make a big difference when added together. We aim to identify projects we can do in the name of the campaign, whether it is planting trees or being actively involved in cleaning up eyesores as part of our commitment to changing attitudes.

The campaign will also debate transport policy, highlight the fun leisure pursuits we enjoy in this fantastic region of ours, examine how businesses are working to make themselves more environmentally friendly and provide regular tips as to how everyone can save waste and money by working together towards making the North East a greener place to live, work and play.

As sponsors of the campaign, Groundwork are taking part to raise awareness of projects that are happening in your area and to highlight opportunities to take part across the region.

The campaign is endorsed by Environment Secretary the Rt Hon David Miliband.
